Online gambling can be fast lane to addiction for many teens
A study Irecently read in HealthDay News says that teenagers suffering from today's dramatic rise in youth depression and attention deficit disorders are very likely to see Internet use turn to addiction. And not just addiction to chatting or gaming, but to much tougher stuff too, like online gambling.
"Internet addiction becomes a real possibility for kids already struggling socially and emotionall," says Dr. Susan Bartell, author of "The Top 50 Questions Kids Ask." "Parents with a child or teen diagnosed with ADHD, depression, anxiety or aggression MUST monitor the amount of time their child spends online. In fact, I'd recommend that no child - with or without a diagnosis - spend more than two hours a day on the Internet.
.......according to the National Academy of Sciences, one in three high school students gamble on a regular basis.
